The Maybourne herd of British Toggenburgs
was founded in 1980 on a farm in Cleveland UK.

The goats have been bred to be hardy, have strong conformation with good udders and milk well.
The herd has been successful in the show ring, having bred 3 full female Champions and 10 Breed Champions, although it has never been a large herd.
It has bred males that have done well - not only in the show ring (3 full male Champions) but in the stock that Maybourne males have produced in other herds.
The herd has a high health status and has been CAE negative tested since testing became available in the UK in 1983.
Maybourne goats are bred to last well. Longevity has always been a prime aim.

Ruth was very succesful and amongst her achievements she won three consecutive Champioships at the Royal Highland Show.
She became best in show at the National Breed Show and was the female winner of the first National Interbreed Championship. Ruth was only ever beaten in her breed class (as kid, goatling and milker) on one occasion and that was by Maybourne Tasha (on Ruth's retirement day at the Great Yorkshire Show).
